				<title>The Effect of the Helfer Technique in the Facilitated Position on Pain Caused by Hepatitis B Vaccine Injection in Term Infants: A Randomized Clinical Trial</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background: Vaccine-induced pain is a common concern in infancy. Non-pharmacological methods, such as the Helfer technique and facilitated positioning are safe, simple, and cost-effective alternatives for pain management. This study aimed to evaluate the individual and combined effects of these methods on vaccination-induced pain in term infants.Methods: This four-arm randomized clinical trial was conducted between January and April 2025 at Imam Reza Hospital in Iran. A total of 192 term infants were randomly assigned to one of four groups: Helfer technique, facilitated positioning, combined Helfer technique and facilitated positioning, or a control group (n=48 per group). Pain was assessed during and one minute after vaccination using the Neonatal Infant Pain Scale (NIPS).              Results: The mean NIPS scores during vaccination were 4.65 ± 0.89 (Helfer), 4.88 ± 1.09 (facilitated positioning), 3.71 ± 0.98 (combined), and 5.54 ± 1.08 (control). Analysis of variance revealed significant differences among the groups (P = 0.03). Bonferroni post hoc tests indicated that the Helfer technique significantly reduced pain compared to the control group (P = 0.01), while facilitated positioning alone did not show a statistically significant difference (P = 0.07). The combined approach of the Helfer technique and facilitated positioning resulted in the lowest pain scores, demonstrating a significant reduction compared to the control group (P = 0.03) and suggesting a potential synergistic effect.Conclusion: The combined use of the Helfer technique and facilitated positioning was more effective in reducing vaccination-induced pain in term infants than either intervention alone. These simple, safe, and low-cost nonpharmacological methods may be recommended for pain management during infant vaccination.]]></abstract>

				<title>Anemia of Pregnant Women and The Incidence of Stunting Among Children Aged 24-59 Months: A Case-Control Study in Indonesia</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background: Stunting is a form of malnutrition that remains a global problem. Pregnant women require greater nutritional intake due to increased metabolic demands and fetal growth, including a higher requirement for iron. Poor maternal nutrition can lead to anemia, which disrupts the blood supply responsible for delivering nutrients and oxygen to the fetus, thereby causing developmental and growth impairments. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between maternal anemia during pregnancy and the incidence of stunting in children aged 24–59 months in families in Indonesia.Materials and Methods: A case-control design with a retrospective approach was performed 144 cases (consisting of 72 in the case and 72 in the control group) employed stratified random sampling. Data on maternal anemia during pregnancy were obtained from the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) handbook. Meanwhile, anthropometric measurements of children were conducted using a digital scale and a digital microtoise. The data were analyzed using the Chi-square test to determine the relationship between variables.Results: Mothers who experienced anemia in the case group were 43% more prevalent compared to the control group. The incidence of stunting was classified into two categories: 45.8% were categorized as stunted, and 52.2% as severely stunted. The results of the Chi-square analysis showed a significant relationship between maternal anemia during pregnancy and the incidence of stunting (p &lt; 0.001). In this study, mothers with a history of anemia during pregnancy were 4,7 times more likely to have stunted children (OR = 4.7; CI = 2.07–10.58).Conclusions: This study indicated a relationship between maternal anemia during pregnancy and the incidence of stunting in children aged 24–59 months. Therefore, this study recommends that families be aware of the importance of maternal nutrition during pregnancy and the consumption of iron supplements in order to prevent stunting in children.]]></abstract>

				<title>A Qualitative Study on the Reasons for Parental Refusal of Childhood Vaccination</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background: Immunization programs are critical interventions for controlling infectious diseases and significantly reducing childhood mortality. However, parental refusal of childhood vaccination is increasing, potentially leading to the resurgence of debilitating and fatal childhood diseases. This study explores the reasons behind such decisions among families in Kashan, Iran.Methods: This qualitative study utilized semi-structured interviews to collect data. Participants were parents who refused vaccination for their children. Interviews were transcribed and analyzed concurrently with data collection using thematic analysis. Data saturation determined the sample size. Results: From eight interviews, 200 codes (merging similar codes) were extracted, forming 19 themes related to refusal reasons. These were categorized into immediate causes (vaccine hesitancy), intermediary causes (misinformation, belief in natural immunity, perceived low risk of infection, belief in safer alternatives, conspiracy theories, distrust in services, personal and others’ experiences, influence of propaganda and rumors, modeling others’ behavior, personality traits, and immunization costs), and underlying causes (popularity of traditional medicine, anti-vaccine movement, COVID-19 outbreak, organizational issues, individual choice, perceived non-urgency of immunization services, and the expansion of virtual spaces).Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of understanding the multifaceted and complex factors contributing to vaccine refusal. It suggests that multifaceted, evidence-based interventions can enhance vaccine acceptance and improve public health.]]></abstract>

				<title>The Prevalence of Speech Disorders in Iran: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background: Speech disorders are common communication difficulties in childhood, which can have a negative impact on a person&#039;s quality of life. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to estimate the prevalence rate of various types of speech   disorders in preschool and elementary school students in Iran.Materials and Methods: A systematic search was conducted in national and international databases, including Magiran, SID, PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science, from March 30, 2000, to March 30, 2025. The quality assessment was evaluated by the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI). All statistical analyses were performed using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA) software.Results: A total of 15 studies, comprising 24983 students, were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled prevalence of speech disorders among preschool and elementary school children in Iran was 8.7% (boys 10.3% and girls 7%). The prevalence of speech disorders in preschool, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth-grade students was 11.5%, 10.1%, 7.1%, 8.7%, 9%, and 8.1%, respectively. The pooled prevalence of speech sound disorders, stuttering, and voice disorders was 7%, 1.9%, and 2.3%, respectively.Conclusions: The results of this study reveal that approximately one in 10 Iranian students has a speech disorder, with higher rates in preschool children.]]></abstract>

				<title>Preserving Pediatric Maxillofacial Growth and Function after Trauma: A Narrative Review of Innovative Surgical Strategies and Long-Term Outcomes</title>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Pediatric maxillofacial trauma is a unique clinical condition characterized by distinct anatomical, developmental, and biomechanical features. The growing facial skeleton, mixed dentition, and active growth centers contribute to age-dependent fracture patterns and influence treatment strategies. Epidemiological data show a higher incidence in male patients, with adolescents being the most affected age group. Common causes include falls, sports-related injuries, and motor vehicle accidents, with fracture distribution varying by age and mechanism of injury. Treatment approaches must balance immediate fracture stabilization with preserving facial growth, occlusal development, and long-term functional and aesthetic outcomes. Non-displaced or minimally displaced fractures are usually managed conservatively, while displaced or functionally compromising injuries often require surgical intervention, such as open reduction and internal fixation. Growth-preserving techniques, minimally invasive approaches, and the use of bioabsorbable fixation materials have shown positive outcomes with low complication rates. However, the literature is limited by retrospective designs, single-center experiences, heterogeneous patient populations, and inconsistent long-term follow-up data, especially regarding craniofacial growth and functional recovery. Multidisciplinary care and prospective, multicenter studies with standardized reporting are necessary to enhance evidence-based guidelines. By combining conservative and surgical strategies tailored to the patient’s age and developmental status, clinicians can optimize functional restoration, aesthetic results, and long-term quality of life for children who have experienced facial trauma.]]></abstract>

				<abstract><![CDATA[Background: Peutz-Jeghers syndrome (PJS) is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by gastrointestinal hamartomatous polyposis, most commonly the small intestine. Although intussusception is a recognaized complication of PJS, primary intussusception is uncommon in children older than three years of age, necessitating a high index of suspicion for underlying pathological lead points.Case Presentation: We report a case of type B1 PJS in a seven-year-old male who initially presented with an acute abdomen. Subsequent laparotomy revealed a jejunojejunal intussusception along with an incidentally discovered large Meckel’s diverticulum. Notably, the patient lacked the classic mucocutaneous hyperpigmentation typically associated with PJS.Conclusion: Approaching an acute abdomen in a pediatric patient requires a careful diagnostic evaluation. In children older than three years presenting with intussusception, secondary causes such as PJS must be considered, even in the absence of pathognomonic mucocutaneous pigmentation.]]></abstract>
